Learning English

A command of the English language at a bilingual or native level is the goal for all students. Adapted teachings and tools are available for all at each step of the schooling in Ombrosa.

• In the Lycée : Teaching of literature in English for the IB, preparation to the FCE, CEA and Proficiency of Cambridge. Specialized teaching of LLCE for students of the French General Baccalaureate. The IGCSE « English first language » integrated in the 2nde (Grande 10/Year 11) program. The IGCSE « English literature » is integrated in the international section and accessible to students of the French section as an optional class. A complementary development course is available for students of 2nde who would need it, based on their previous curriculum.
• In the Collège : All students are integrated in our English Department in level groups to allow each and every student to be in the best possible conditions to learn in accordance with their needs. In 6e, a complementary class is organized for students who have not previously be initiated to bilingualism. Classes also take place in immersion and are organized to make sure that everyone can benefit from them. An expression workshop and a literary club are at the students’ disposal and complete the curriculum.
• In Elementary School, specific sequences of native English are organized to complete the teaching in English that is offered in class one every two weeks.
• In Nursery School, all teachings are offered in English only. Immersion is key and is built to speak to all students, while also allowing them to be fulfilled in this first step in school. They do not need to benefit from an English-speaking environment at home.
