On Thursday, March 4 and 11, students of 6° visited the Institut Lumière as part of their thematic workshop.
This outing was organized in two parts:
First, they visited the Museum, that is actually the former house of the Lumière brothers. Students discovered the sotry of the invention of the cinematograph in 1985 by Louis Lumière. They saw that Louis and Auguste were geniuses in the fields of sciences, optics and medicine.
After that, a screening was organized to discover the first movies made by the Lumière brothers: out of the factory, L’Arroseur arrosé, Le Repas de bébé, L’Arrivée d’un train en gare de La Ciotat…
The screening ended up with some short movies on burlesque comedy to get students to discover the legendary Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton or Laurel and Hardy.
