ANNIE (CM) – Tuesday 23 March LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD AND THE WOLF – (CE) Tuesday 11 May
The church ‘Immaculée Conception’ in Caluire was the venue, as usual, for Ombrosa’s class shows this year. Both shows displayed the evident joy of singing and performing, and like in previous years, the standard achieved of the massed voices (Eight classes of CE1 and CE2, some 180 children took part in ‘Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf’) was exceptional.
‘Annie’ given by the classes of CM1 and CM2 included the memorable songs from the film, such as ‘Tomorrow’, ‘It’s a Hard-Knock Life’, ‘Let’s Go to the Movies,’ and ‘Maybe’. In between each of the nine songs in total were class theatrical productions or poems, made up by the children, explaining the theme of the story – these included ‘New York in the 1940s’, ‘A comparison between Rich and Poor’, the ‘Orphaned Child’, and ‘My first visit to the Cinema’.
A packed church witnessed the splendid production of Roald Dahl’s story ‘Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf’. Each class from CE1 and CE2 took part in the actual spoken part of the text (some made up by the children), which meant that a number of Little Red Riding Hoods, Wolfs, Pigs, Sniffy the Dogs … made for quite a colourful scene. The passion and enthusiasm of the singing, not to mention the ability of such young children to sing in two parts, made for a wonderful performance much appreciated by the huge audience.
It is excellent to see that Primary shows, which form an important part of the school year, are flourishing at Ombrosa! Congratulations to all children who took part.
The final concert of the year 2090/2010 takes place on Monday 31 May at 19h at the church of Immaculée Conception, Caluire.
The Primary Choir will be present a programme of songs from theatre and cinema, including a medley of songs from the film ‘Grease’. It will also include a number of individual or group musical performances.
