As part of the biology programme, students of 3ème (G9/Y10) went back in time to discover the history of the Earth and how Life developped.
Activité 1 : The geological path of the site allows students to discover the geological history of the region and to observe an incredible rift revealed during excavation work. The nature of the layers and the presence of many fossils of sea animals teach us that in the Jurasic period (-160 million years), this region was a tropical beach.
Activité 2 : The main room of the museum offers many panels, videos and displays.
The principle of fossilization and the importance of fossils lead us to understadn how the History of Life can be told by paleontologists. We can also see how volcanoes, meteorites and climate related phenomena took part in the evolution of Life at the surface of the Earth. The evolution of the main plant and animal lines reveals the ancestors of ferns, octopuses, but also of the Homo Sapiens.
Activité 3 : With a museum worker, students became discoverers of fossils, and all of them could go home with what they found.
