As part of the 2013 Science Festival on the theme of “from the infinitely large to the infinitely small”, students of 6e (G6/Y7) took part with their biology teacher to a workshop entitled “the microscopic world” in the Catholic University of Lyon.
Students in 2nd year of Master and their teachers had prepared 3 activities:
- the diversity of micro-organisms: discover and observe the main categories of micro-organisms (bacteria, virus, yeast and mold)
- the use of micro-organismes: their role in our diet, realization of a colored smear test to observe the bacteria found in a yoghurt.
- DNA cells: taking samples, coloring them and observing mouth cells, presentation of what DNA is and extraction of the DNA from a kiwi.
Despite a capricious weather, students teachers and chaperones all came back delighted by this visit filled with discoveries.
