Smiles Africa Charity, Conference to 3e

In the final week of the academic year the 3eme International class was given a presentation by Peter Mwashi Litonde, coordinator and founder of Smiles Africa Charity, an organisation in a slum (‘bidonville’) in Kenya.

Peter talked about his own life growing up in Korogocho, the third largest slum in Kenya and the projects he has set up there. Peter grew up in this slum but was given the opportunity to go to school and then University to study Community Development. He later received a scholarship to study Social work. This has enabled him to put energy back into developing his community, supported by professional volunteers and interns from around the world. In previous years, some of Ombrosa lycée students have joined Peter for work experience during their summer break. The 3eme students were fascinated by his presentation and left feeling inspired and motivated.
