On the 27th September, and under the bluest sky, our four CM1 classes headed off excitedly to the park of Miribel Jonage to celebrate our All Together Day. On the menu – exploring Food and Sustainability with some environmental Science thrown in, whilst doing some serious team building with our friends.
First challenge was to explore the vegetable garden. We collected all sorts of herbs, fruit and vegetables, from the sweetest watermelon to the spiciest radish. Then came the opportunity to enjoy eating . No pesticides, no air miles. It was delicious! And it is fair to say that all of us – students, parents and teachers – all learned something about plant families in the games that we played afterwards.
We all ate lunch together on the lawns in the sunshine and then it was time for the second activity which was a Treasure Hunt. Here, the students worked in small groups to identify and classify the residents of the reserve. It was energetic and active but full of learning too.
The day was over too quickly but we all returned to school happy, informed and, most importantly having spent precious time with both old friends and new ones. A special thanks to our splendid team of parent helpers without whom the day could not have taken place.
